GCC was originally written as the compiler for the GNU operating system. The GNU Compiler Collection includes front ends for C, C++, Objective-C, Fortran, Java, and Ada, as well as libraries for these languages (libstdc++, libgcj and so on).

The gcc compiler (arguably the most widely used open compiler framework in the world) was on track to support the tm extensions defined in these standards and to be fully compatible with the VELOX Stack.

Gcc-tm C/C++ Compiler is the branch in the gcc which implements transactional-memory. Gcc-tm supported the latest draft of the VELOX API Spec and generated code compliant with the latest VELOX ABI Spec which are both being fed back into the API and ABI Standards that are developed conjointly with external industry players.
