Dr. Yehuda Afek
Yehuda Afek received a B.A.from the Technion in Electrical Engineering, and M.Sc and Ph.D. from University of California Los-Angeles (UCLA) in 1983 and 1985 respectively, both in Computer Science. He was a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell-Labs from 1985 to 1988 when he joined the computer science department at Tel-Aviv University.
He was a consultant for AT&T research labs from 1988 to 2000. In 2001 he co-founded Riverhead Networks, which was the only company to provide a real solution to the Distributed Denial of Service attacks on the Internet. Riverhead was acquired by Cisco in 2004, when he became a director at Cisco, where his group is involved in transforming several security applications into multi-core architectures.
Dr. Afek has over 25 years of experience in designing algorithm and data structures for distributed networks and shared memory, and has authored over eighty journal and conference papers and over ten patents.
